born the only child in a middle class family. father was abusive (mostly verbally but sometimes physically) to both wife and son until they got a divorce when seonghyun entered his first year of high school. now his mother has a new boyfriend that seonghyun doesn't like much but he doesn't care so long as his mom is happy. the guy at least tries to buy his love- or at least approval- and while it won't work seonghyun will happily take the gifts.

when it became obvious that studying hard and getting good grades wasn't enough to make his dad happy he tried to stay away from home as long as possible by joining whatever teams and clubs he could in school, then turned to hanging out with friends and getting into trouble in whatever way they could find; bullying classmates, smoking and drinking on and off school grounds, stealing from convenience stores, or just spending all their money at pc bangs. eventually he would grow out of the rebellious stage and take academics seriously but kept the smoking, drinking and playing video games- he just smokes and drinks legally now.

has scars on his torso from his dad that he never talks about. don't ask about them. he doesn't talk about his dad or his childhood at all.

has dated once in high school but hasn't since. they lasted over a year before seonghyun broke it off after it got boring. now he only just sleeps around. claims to be straight but might be deep in the closet or at least bisexual.

didn't know what to do with his life until he watched indiana jones and decided to wanted to be an archaeologist. learned the hard way that it's not all about fighting bad guys and sleeping with pretty girls but he still enjoys history and art- oh and that archaeologists stole shit and that's not cool.

highly competitive in whatever he does, a bit of a hothead, never starts a fight but always finishes them etc etc. now that his father is out of the picture seonghyun refuses to let anyone put him down or walk all over him. yeah he acts tough but he's got a secret soft side that those close to him get to see. or just look at his cat.

is a secret nerd. he likes video games and anime and even has a tattoo of the brand
from berserk on his wrist. there also might be some anime figures floating around his apartment.

works at a cafe near snu and lives in the same area. it isn't his dream job but it helps pay the bills and he gets all the free drinks he wants. his apartment was one of the gifts to buy his approval but seonghyun at least paid for half of it because pride and all that. he shares the apartment with his kitten ahri.
